Website Design Services

A website is the front door to your business, creating a crucial first impression.

It needs to reflect your character.

More importantly, you should own it completely.

Unfortunately, many small business owners are trapped by their website provider. These providers:

  • lock clients into ongoing contracts
  • charge for every change
  • restrict the features that you can get without additional upcharges

Our Approach is Different

For $1,250 we put together a website that:

  • Uses AWS to host the site on a properly sized instance
  • Provides full WordPress access and plugin functionality
  • Has transparent ongoing costs associated with the underlying services (as low as $7/month)
  • Allows HTTPS access for secure connections
  • Is handed over to you to control

Once the site is finished, we are completely out of the picture. There are no ongoing “hosting” fees that you pay just to keep your site alive.

Our Process

Step 1) Schedule a call so we can make sure this is a fit for your needs. Are you looking for a single page website with everything in one spot, a dozen pages each with its own focus, a list of services you provide, a blog,….? We need to understand your vision for the site in order to ensure we can deliver. We also want you to understand what subscriptions you will need to pay for on an ongoing basis. Note that, unlike many other providers, you will pay for those services directly, so there is no markup. At a minimum, you need to pay for the domain registration and the AWS service that will host the website and the associated backups (typically <$10/m). However, based on your requirement you may also need to pay for a community portal (e.g. discord or circle), an investor portal (e.g. investnext or junipersquare), or other external services (e.g. calendly, dropbox, or hubspot). While I can provide links to these capabilities, customization of them is not included in my base fee.

Step 2) Provide the required information and pay for the initial page creation. Note that this is a non-refundable payment for half the cost of the site development. I am not a copy editor or a photographer, so you need to provide the text and images that you want to use for the website (along with the color scheme you want). I will also need access to any external services (typically with admin permissions) so I can integrate and test them.

Step 3) Review the initial draft. I strive to provide an initial version of the site within 2 weeks of receiving all of the information from you. While this will provide a good starting point, this version is not expected to be complete – I am looking for feedback on it. We will iterate on the site up to 3 times so that you can get exactly what you want.

Step 4) Final payment and site handoff. In this final step, we transition the domain to point to this website (if you had a previous website), set up the https key (to avoid the annoying warnings from browsers), and give you access to the AWS and WordPress accounts (so you have complete control over the site).
